The Conditions We Take On
If your labs came back "within normal range" and you're still not well, you're in the right place. These are the complex chronic conditions we work with most, and what to expect when care is built around your Adaptive Capacity — not just the name on your chart.
Lyme disease, Long Covid, autoimmune disease, POTS, mold illness — read as a list, these look like fourteen unrelated diagnoses requiring fourteen different specialists. They aren't. Underneath nearly every complex chronic illness we see is the same underlying event: a person's Adaptive Capacity — their total ability to adapt to every stressor they meet in a given span of time — has collapsed past the threshold the body can recover from on its own. The condition name describes where that collapse became visible first. It doesn't explain why it happened or what it will take to reverse it. That gap is why standard, single-system treatment so often stalls at "your labs are normal" while the person in front of us is still sick. Integral Medicine treats the collapsed capacity underneath the label — which is why the same framework applies whether your diagnosis is Lyme, Long Covid, or something not listed here at all.
Conditions
Fourteen conditions we take on most often. Long Covid and Lyme Disease have dedicated pages; the rest are in progress — reach out and we'll talk through your specific history now.
Lyme Disease
Chronic Lyme, co-infections (Bartonella, Babesia, Ehrlichia), and post-Lyme syndrome — the infection that cleared on paper but never released the body.

Post-viral fatigue, brain fog, and autonomic dysfunction that started after infection and never fully resolved. Recovery-oriented, lab-guided care.
Read the full pageLong Vax & Vaccine Injury
Post-vaccination inflammatory and neurological symptoms a conventional workup often can't name. We work with the immune and nervous-system disruption underneath.
Page comingMold / CIRS
Chronic Inflammatory Response Syndrome from water-damaged buildings — a biotoxin load that keeps the nervous and immune systems locked in alarm long after exposure ends.
Page comingAutoimmune
Hashimoto's, lupus, rheumatoid arthritis, and related conditions. We work with the gut, nervous system, and infectious load driving them — not only the antibody count.
Page comingPOTS / MCAS
The racing heart, dizziness, and reactivity that often travel alongside Long Covid, Lyme, or an unresolved nervous-system lock.
Page comingEBV / Viral Reactivation
Epstein-Barr and other latent viruses reactivating under chronic stress load — a hidden driver of fatigue that rarely shows up on a standard panel.
Page comingHeavy Metal Toxicity
Mercury, lead, and other accumulated metals quietly taxing detox pathways and mitochondrial function for years before symptoms are traced to their source.
Page comingFibromyalgia & Chronic Pain
Widespread pain and tenderness with no structural cause on imaging — often a nervous system stuck in threat response, not a damaged body.
Page comingMetabolic Dysfunction
Insulin resistance, stubborn weight, and energy crashes that show up years before a diabetes diagnosis. We work with the terrain underneath, not just the fasting glucose number.
Page comingType 2 Diabetes
Blood-sugar dysregulation addressed alongside the mitochondrial and inflammatory load driving it — protein- and nutrient-dense eating, never blanket restriction.
Page comingSIBO & Gut Dysfunction
Bacterial overgrowth and digestive chaos at the largest interface between your body and the world — often the first system to show what's collapsing upstream.
Page comingHormonal Dysregulation
Perimenopause, thyroid dysfunction, adrenal exhaustion, and cycle irregularity treated as one integrated endocrine system, not isolated hormone numbers.
Page comingOncology Support (Adjunctive)
Recovery-oriented care alongside — never in place of — your oncology treatment, supporting your body's capacity to tolerate treatment and rebuild afterward.
Page comingHow We Approach Every Condition
Whatever condition brought you here, care begins the same way: an assessment three layers deep. Layer one is physiological and functional — labs read through a clinical lens that includes sleep, energy, digestion, temperature regulation, and your full toxin and infection history. Layer two reconstructs your life history and medical timeline — the illnesses, exposures, surgeries, and events a standard intake never assembles. Layer three looks at cognitive, emotional, and spiritual well-being — purpose, meaning, and nervous-system regulation, treated as co-equal to the labs, not an afterthought.
From there, treatment moves through the same five hurdles regardless of diagnosis: Nervous System Lock first, because nothing else rebuilds while the body is stuck in low-grade threat; then Mitochondrial Depletion, the cellular fatigue that rest alone doesn't fix; then Gut & Microbiome Disruption; then Hidden Load, the latent infections, metals, and toxins a standard panel misses; and finally Meaning & Identity Mismatch, which determines whether recovery holds once you get there. The full sequence is on Our Process.
This is why the same framework works whether your diagnosis is Lyme, Long Covid, or a label that isn't on this page at all — we aren't treating fourteen diseases, we're restoring one capacity. Our clients have experienced meaningful results in as little as 3 months, with full recovery typically unfolding over 1 to 2 years.
A diagnosis names where your system broke down first — not why it broke down, or what it will take to rebuild. Two people with the identical Long Covid diagnosis can have entirely different collapsed capacities underneath it: one in the nervous system, one in the gut, one in unresolved grief. Adaptive Capacity is the deeper measure — the total ability to meet every stressor in your life — and it's the number that actually predicts whether you get better.
Luke Tera, MTOM, L.Ac.Frequently Asked Questions
What if my condition isn't on this list?
This names the fourteen conditions we see most often, not the limit of who we work with. Complex chronic illness shows up under labels we haven't listed here too — and the underlying question is the same for every client: where has your Adaptive Capacity collapsed, and why. Reach out and we'll talk through your specific history.
Do I need a diagnosis before I can start?
No. Many clients arrive with normal labs and no diagnosis at all — "every test came back normal" is one of the most common starting points we see. The three-layer assessment is built to find what a standard workup misses, diagnosis or not.
Can you work alongside my current doctor or specialist?
Yes. Integral Medicine works alongside your existing medical team, not in place of it. We coordinate with specialists where useful, and never advise stopping a prescribed treatment without your doctor's guidance.
Do you only see clients in person?
No. Luke Tera, MTOM, L.Ac. sees clients in person in Hotchkiss, Colorado, and works with members virtually in all 50 states, using the same assessment and protocol either way.
Where should I start?

Whatever the label on your chart, if your Adaptive Capacity has collapsed, this is where recovery-oriented care begins.
